Eligibility Criteria for JAM-2024
Qualification: To qualify for JAM 2024 and get into IITs:
- Have a completed bachelor’s degree or be in the final year.
- If promoted without marks, provide a certificate from the Institute.
- Foreign nationals with Indian degrees can apply as per Institute policy.
Physical Fitness :
When getting admitted, candidates need a doctor’s certificate about their health (in a specific form). They might also take a health test by the Institute’s doctors. If someone can’t physically handle the course, their admission might be cancelled.

How Apply for JAM-2024
Applying for IIT JAM 2024:
- Go to the Official IIT JAM 2024 Portal.
- Find “Important Web-Links” and click “Online Application Form.”
- Open the new page, click “Online Application Form” again, and log in.
- Fill in personal, education info and upload documents.
- Pay the application fee for your category.
- Submit the form.
- Finally, print a copy of the application form.

Application Procedure Of JAM-2024
- Choice of Examination Cities:
The JAM 2024 Examination will take place in eight different zones, each with its own list of cities where the exam will be held. When you apply for JAM 2024, you need to pick your top three city choices. Once you select your first choice city, it determines your zone, and your second and third choices must also be from that same zone. If, for some reason, a city from your choices can’t be assigned, you’ll be given an alternative city. Remember to check the JAM 2024 website for any updates about the exam cities
2. Data Required To filled in JAM-2024 application
When you’re filling out the form on the JOAPS portal for JAM-2024, you’ll need to provide:
- Personal Info: Your name, email, birthdate, mobile number, parent/guardian’s info.
- Qualification: Your name should match your degree, without titles (Mr/Shri/Dr, etc.).
- Address: Your communication address, including PIN code.
- Degree Details: Information about your eligibility degree and your college/university.
- Exam Choice: Which JAM papers you want to take and preferred exam cities.
- Documents: Scans of your 10th marksheets, a clear photo, and signature.
- Category: If applicable, scan your category (OBC-NCL/EWS/SC/ST) or disability certificates.
- Photo ID: Provide details of a valid ID like Aadhaar, DL, PAN, Passport, or Voter ID.
- Payment: Choose payment mode (net banking, debit/credit card, UPI) for the application fee.
You can save and continue filling the form later on JOAPS, which is easy to use. Just make sure your info is accurate and complete before submitting.
Please follow these guidelines for your photograph:
- High Quality: Only upload a recent, clear photograph – not blurry.
- Admit Card & Scorecard: Your submitted photo will be on your JAM-2024 Admit Card and Scorecard.
- Color & Background: The photo should be in color, with a white or very light background.
- Avoid Mobile Shots: Avoid low-resolution photos taken with phones or self-composed portraits.
- Passport Size: Upload a face photo in JPEG/JPG format, passport size (3.5 cm Width × 4.5 cm Height).
- Image Dimensions: The image should be between 240 × 320 pixels (min) and 480 × 640 pixels (max).
- File Size: Keep the file size between 20 KB and 200 KB.
- Aspect Ratio: The width-to-height ratio should be between 0.66 and 0.89.
- Face Visibility: Your face should cover at least 50% of the photo area, facing the camera directly.
- Clear Facial Features: Ensure clear visibility of forehead, eyes, nose, ears, and chin without obstructions.
- No Glare: If you wear glasses, avoid glare; you can remove them for the photo.
- Spectacles: Only clear glasses are allowed; avoid dark or tinted glasses.
- Quality Matters: Remember, a poor-quality photo can lead to application rejection without fee refund.

Signature Requirement :
Here’s how to meet the signature requirements:
- Good Quality: Scan your signature in black or dark blue ink with clear details – not blurry.
- Size Limits: Keep the signature size within 2 cm × 7 cm (Height × Width).
- Ink & Color: Use black or dark blue ink only, no other colors or capital letters.
- Scanner Use: Use a professional scanner for a clear digital image in JPEG/JPG format.
- Image Dimensions: The signature image should be between 80 × 280 pixels (min) and 160 × 560 pixels (max).
- File Size: Keep the file size between 5 KB and 150 KB.
- Aspect Ratio: The width-to-height ratio should be between 3.15 and 4.04.
