GATE 2024 NOTIFICATION
The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, has issued the official notification for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2024. GATE 2024 will occur across February 3rd, 4th, 10th, and 11th, covering 30 subjects referred to as “papers.” The exam will be entirely computer-based.
GATE, a nationwide test, is managed and conducted in eight zones across India by the GATE Committee, consisting of faculty members from IISc, Bangalore, and seven other IITs. This is done on behalf of the National Coordinating Board, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development.
Securing a qualifying score in GATE is obligatory for those aspiring to pursue Master’s and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, as well as Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Arts and Science. This applies to institutions supported by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and other Government bodies. Notably, some colleges and institutions that admit students without MoE scholarships/assistantships still mandate GATE qualification.
Moreover, numerous Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) rely on GATE scores to shortlist candidates for employment opportunities. Prominent organizations like Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), and Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) follow this practice.
Furthermore, GATE scores now serve as the basis for direct recruitment to Group A level positions in the Central government. This includes roles such as Senior Field Officer (Tele), Senior Research Officer (Crypto), and Senior Research Officer (S&T) in the Cabinet Secretariat of the Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria of GATE Exam
Educational Qualification : Those presently enrolled in the 3rd year or beyond of an undergraduate degree program, or those who have successfully completed a government-approved degree program in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, or Humanities, are eligible for participation in GATE 2024.
